Forged currency in circulation - Egyptian, Pakistani held Police have arrested two persons — an Egyptian and a Pakistani — for possessing forged Kuwaiti bank notes, reports Al-Shahed daily. The arrest came after the Operations Department of the Interior Ministry received a call from the accountant of the Sa’ad Al-Abdullah Cooperative Society saying he had received a KD 5 forged banknote from the Egyptian. When the man was interrogated he said he got the money from his Pakistani colleague at work to purchase foodstuffs. The Pakistani said he got the forged money from the market. Meanwhile, Customs officers at the Doha Port have confiscated counterfeit sunglasses, cosmetics and leather handbags carrying well-known brand names, reports Al-Shahed daily. The contraband arrived from China. The cargo was imported by a local establishment and legal action has been initiated against the importer. In another development, police are looking for five unidentified persons for impersonating police, breaking into the headquarters of a well-known Asian company in Al-Zour and stealing engines, copper cables, two 4-wheel drives and eight cell phones belonging to Asian workers at the site, reports Alam Alyawm daily. And, the vehicle of an unidentified motorist has been impounded for committing serious traffic violations, reports Al-Rai daily. According to sources the suspect drove in the emergency lane in Yarmouk for about two kilometers and the incident was witnessed by the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs, Major-General Abdulfattah Al-Ali.
