Forgiveness has nothing to do with absolving a criminal of his - TopicsExpress

Forgiveness has nothing to do with absolving a criminal of his crime. It has everything to do with relieving oneself of the burden of being a victim, letting go of the pain and transforming from victim to survivor. When it comes to forgiveness I know many people struggle with the concept. It is natural as forgiveness is something unnatural for us to do. As humans we are wired for retribution. Forgiveness is actually a skill we all can learn. We often talk about it but seldom do it. It is a process that we undertake to let go of all the emotions surrounding the situation or person. Forgiveness does not mean reconciliation...that is something different. True forgiveness happens in the body. this mind can let go and move on but the body (where we hold our pain) needs to work through the wounding and when ready let go. Any thoughts? Why do you struggle with forgiveness? if you say you have forgiven let me ask you this question. if you happened to see that person in the aisle at a grocery store...how would you react?
