Former American track star and Team Nigeria Relay Coordinator, Maurice Greene, recently employed by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) had his first training session with Nigeria athletes yesterday in preparation for the MT Sac Relays Championships beginning today in California. The team is to also feature at the Penn Relays scheduled for next week in Philadelphia. Greene was given a warm welcome by coaches and athletes who also commended the AFN for taking such a bold step in hiring the multiple Olympic gold medallist. They all said Greene’s coming to the Nigerian camp will improve the country’s relay prospects in major championships this year. Speaking on the training session, Coach Daniel Etsebiminor said; “The AFN is always taking steps that will improve track and field in Nigeria and the coming of Maurice Greene has shown that again; we the coaches appreciate his coming and also thanked the AFN”. ow.ly/vSYd3
