Fort Bragg on the Noyo River...great stop on the journey. Entrance almost immediately under a highway bridge, not a lot of water under the keel even at high tide. Snake along the river past former fish processing buildings built right on the edge of the river, many now turned into restaurants, with a variety of boats tied alongside. We were able to snag a birth at Noyo as many of the fish boats were out for the first open season for King Salmon since 2002. Tight squeeze into the finger dock but friendly young deck hands from the next boat made short work of the lines. Tope was impatient to get to the dock so I lifted her over the side as it was a long way down. She was having none of that when she returned from her walk and jumped six feet straight up to the boat deck just to prove her point. The marina office staff were friendly and even found us a ride to the nearest food store. Food prices comparable to BC with lots of fancy organic items like a bag of chips for $7.99! Just as we were realizing that we had bought too much to carry back to the boat, the captain of the boat beside us appeared and offered a lift back to the marina. Up at 3am for a slow slide out of the harbour just hours before a -1.2 low tide. Dawn just now and little or no fog....onward 80 miles before we sleep.
