Forty years ago tonight, at about this time (2 a.m.) I was walking the streets of Dayton in a lonely hour. Joyce was in the process of giving a stillborn birth to our first child, Kimberly Sue. It was Nov. 19, 2014, one of those dates that always makes a day to live through once a year. For some reason, this year it seems a bit deeper than it has been in some time. Joyce was so awesome and beautiful during that time...I still can remember, when she was taken away with the knowledge that Kimberly was gone...she looked at me, squeezed my hand and said, dont worry about me, Ill be okay for you, Jim, butcan we have more? And there I was, an emotional basket case when I heard the cry of a live child, Julie on May 8, 1975 in Dayton, Sandi, on Feb. 7, 1978 in Peoria and Jason, on May 25, 1983 in Sturgis Michigan. And during that time when we lost Kimberly, Joyce and I could often be found singing, Though shadows deepen, and my heart bleeds, I will not question, the way He leads, this side of Heaven, we know in part, I will not question a broken heart....Well talk it over, in the by and by, well take it over, my Lord and I, Ill ask the reason, Hell tell me why, when we talk it over in the by and by. I was 25 then...wow, here I am 65,...and she would be 40....and we have had such a beautiful gift in Julie, Sandi and Jason...and the melancholy heart is singing, Will the circle be unbroken? by and by Lord by and by..
