Obituary Guestbook All Rose Mary AlaimoBORN: April 6, 1924 DIED: May 20, 2014 LOCATION: Vermilion, Ohio Rose Mary Alaimo (nee Bova), 90, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mill Manor Nursing Home, Vermilion after a lengthy illness. Rose was born April 6, 1924 in Buffalo, New York. Rose graduated from Grover Cleveland High School, class of 1941. She had been a Vermilion resident since 1962. During WWII she worked at Bell Aircraft in Buffalo. She was Rosie the Riveter. She worked as a sales person for Buyers Fair, Vermilion, for 20 years retiring in 1994. Rose was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the Liturgy Group. She was a former member of the Altar Rosary Society and was a CCD instructor. She volunteered at St. Mary School and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was vice president of the Vermilion Garden Club and enjoyed reading, singing, theater, gardening and ball room dancing. Rose Alaimo enjoyed traveling. She traveled with her sisters and brothers to California and visited every imaginable famous tourist attraction the length and breadth of California and Nevada. She traveled abroad to Paris, Switzerland, Austria, Italy where she was very near Pope John Paul II in St. Peters Square. In her own words We can all die happy now. We have seen it all. She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Larry) Firestine, Deborah (Thomas) Maurer both of Vermilion and Lisa Ann (Howard) Wilmoth of Sandusky; Gregory (Hui Chu) Alaimo of Amherst; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Shipton of Buffalo, NY and Dorothy Edwards of Simi Valley, CA; and brothers, David Bova of Syracuse, NY and Rudolph Bova of Simi Valley CA, She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Alaimo, May 24, 2007, her parents, James and Mary (Tomasulo) Bova and her great granddaughter, Ava Rose Wolfe. Roses family would like to thank Steve Rankin and his staff for the care they provided Rose for over a decade. Services will be private. Inurnment will be at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion. The family suggests memorial contributions to St Mary Beautification Project, 731 Exchange Street,3 Vermilion, Ohio 44089, or Mill Manor Activity Fund, 983 Exchange St., Vermilion, Ohio.
