Found out today a bunch of stuff about this building apartment and the landlord. So he was trying to make it seem like were dirty people. That Im the only one complaining and not a single tenant in this building have had any problems with bugs. He told the exterminator that it was just my unit. I went to the lady right across from me. She has been from what her grandmother said have been encountering the same thing Im dealing with, and had been telling the landlord who told her, they are fixing the problem today. He wasnt going to have her apartment treated. My neighbor below me has encountered the same thing plus mice, she ended up being billed $150 which is half the extermination bill because he claimed it was her fault and NO ONE else is complaining about it and called her a dirty tenant. The other people above who havent been in this building for very long is dealing with at least one problem, but they are scared to let the landlord know, cause he told them that they would have to pay the exterminator to treat the WHOLE building. The one right above me said, this building at one point has been treated for the same damn thing sometime before I was ever a tenant. He confronted me and told me that Im trying to cause problems with him, just because I want to move out. He was yelling and hollering at me, and luckily I recorded every single word. Am definitely going to a lawyer with this shit. He said that Im going to the neighbors causing problems for him and that none of this is any of my business. I dont know about anyone else, but if Im renting an apartment from anyone, and there is a possibility of my unit getting infested cause of another unit Is I think MY BUSINESS! Pre-treating other units to prevent an epidemic is the key to stop this stupid madness. I hope this gets passed around so that no other tenant has to feel like they need to stay quiet for fear of being charged more money. Tenants should not be afraid of a manipulative landlord and have to share their home with bugs. I dont care if he thinks Im causing problems for him, cause the problem was already here. I will NOT allow any landlord to think they can bully me into thinking this is my fault. Been a tenant here for 5 years with very little to no problems. If you are experiencing anything make sure to document everything!!! Take pictures, collect in Ziploc bags for proof, investigate with your neighbors and do NOT take your landlords word as law. A manipulative landlord will make you think there have never been problems with any other tenants (which may be a lie) and try to terrify you with a big bill. It is not against the law to ask your neighbors. If I had believed his very word and not investigated Im pretty sure that he would try to make me pay for the extermination bill. He is definitely messing with the wrong person.
