Found out today that federal law dictates replacing BOTH elements of an air conditioning system even if only one fails. This is in the interest of energy efficiency. I immediately think of the people who passed this law, like Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, the Clintons, etc. and all the other politicians who own several mega mansions each. I doubt if I consume as much electricity in a lifetime as they use for a good party. But I should be grateful that they have their eye on MY electric meter.
