Fox & Weeks is privileged to serve the family and loved ones of Kathy Wimer Nelson, 50, who died on August 22 of complications from a sudden illness. She was born in Newton, New Jersey, October 16, 1963. She graduated from Norfolk High School in Norfolk, NE in 1982 and received a degree in elementary education from Kearney State College, Kearney, NE in 1987. She was a teacher in Omaha, NE, San Diego, CA, and Morgantown, WV. For the past 15 years, Kathy lived happily in Savannah with her husband Danny B. Nelson and their son Cooper, age 8. She was a devoted wife and mother who shared her talents and joy for life with her family, friends and Isle of Hope United Methodist Church community. Kathy walked quietly through life with strength and grace. She provided inspiration without trying to inspire. Its beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart. -Oscar Wilde. Kathy was the daughter of Bonnie B. Wimer of Savannah and the late Harold E. Wimer. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John J. Belt and Georgiana Belt Smith, step-grandfather, Richard Smith, and paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Wimer. She is survived by her sister, Pamela W. Logue (Jerry), brother, John B. Wimer (Becky) and their children, Joseph, Anna, Daniel and Michael. uncle and aunt, Ralph and Marcia Wimer, their children, Michael Wimer (family) and Melanie Ellsworth (family), and her aunt, Nan Smith, brother-in-law, Dana Nelson and wife, Georgette. A Memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Monday at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at the church immediately after the service.
