Frances Wooley on Economic Theory vs. Mathematical Problem Solving. Very intriguing points from the author...I would add that academics in economics are quite myopic when teaching (i.e. some get tunnel vision regarding student preparation for next level math) and tend to ignore analytic and theoretical skill development. Of course, none of this applies to me (or any of my colleagues at UW) ;) worthwhile.typepad/worthwhile_canadian_initi/2014/07/learning-about-theory-does-not-teach-people-how-to-theorize.html?fb_action_ids=658415247575656&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B534709273302537%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.likes%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%5D
