Franklin Perez, 2014 and 2016 Libertarian Candidate for the - TopicsExpress

Franklin Perez, 2014 and 2016 Libertarian Candidate for the Florida State House of Representatives (District 28), is very disappointed over the Election Results. 1) I wound up with 31.74% of the vote in year 2014 vs. the 34% I got in year 2012. I figured that this being my fifth time running for the Florida State House with a Libertarian platform would have gotten me more than 34% of the vote this time around - despite me not being able to walk my House District due to work-related duties. 2) Medical Marijuana Amendment did not pass. This shows how socially backward Florida is vs. other states. 3) Despite the polls indicating that Adrian Wyllie, the 2014 Libertarian candidate for Florida Governor, would get about 6% of the vote, he only got 3.75% of the vote. This... despite Adrian Wyllie doing a good job of getting Press Coverage and running a campaign. I know... I saw many of his interviews with the Press on YouTube. Im beginning to doubt the effectiveness of running for office here in Florida to help spread Libertarian ideas in Florida. Its like trying to talk with a wall. People are hard to change and convince despite ALL their whining and complaining about the Democrats and Republicans. The fact that the Medical Marijuana Amendment did not pass on an issue that is making gains throughout other states, should send some RED flags for Liberty minded candidates running for office in Florida. Florida remains a backward state when it comes to the social political issues. It makes me sick to my stomach. People in Florida complain about how sick and tired of politics as usual with the Democrats and Republicans, but they keep mainly voting Democrat and Republican. Perhaps it might be time to consider moving to New Hampshire to be part of the Free State Project, which encourages Liberty-minded people to move to New Hampshire and help form a Libertarian state. I know that running for State House in New Hampshire is extremely cheap in comparison to Florida due to a lot less constituencies I would need to reach out. Call me a sore loser, but Im extremely sore about the results of this election, especially the results of the Marijuana Amendment and the election results of the Florida Libertarian candidates.
