Fred Clam and Sam Clam were the best of friends. But they couldnt - TopicsExpress

Fred Clam and Sam Clam were the best of friends. But they couldnt be more different. Fred Clam was a quiet and devout family clam, whereas Sam Clam was a gambler and a carouser. As fate would have it, on the same day they both got raked up into a clammers basket and later that evening, boiled into a nice pasta e vognole. Not soon thereafter, Fred and Sam find themselves in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter opens the NSA app on his iPad to learn about everything Fred and Sam did in their mortal lives on the bay floor. St. Peter looks up and says to Fred Clam, Congratulations, my son. You are admitted into Heaven. Handing Fred a golden harp, St. Peter says, This is yours. Then St. Peter looks at Sam and shakes his head. Im sorry my son, but your record reflects a life of unrepentant sin. The down escalator is behind you, just around that little cloud to the left. Well, the years go by and fade into each other, as they tend to do in Eternity, and Fred Clam finds himself missing Sam Clam. Fred approaches an angel and asks if there is any way that Sam could come up to Heaven for a visit. The angel says that is strictly forbidden, but that it could be possible for Fred Clam to go down to Hell to give Sam Clam a quick visit. The angel says that hell first need to go do some checking. When the angel returns, he tells Fred Clam that Sam Clam actually landed a job - running the disco down in Hell. The angel suggests that Fred Clam bring his harp as there might be an opportunity to play some music at the disco. BUT, the angel warned him, he must be back in 48 hours, or else he wont be admitted back into Heaven. Excited, Fred Clam takes his harp and heads over to the down escalator. The reunion between Fred Clam and Sam Clam was quite emotional, and Sam Clam immediately arranged for a big party at the disco. The party was indeed epic, and Fred Clam had ample opportunity to play his harp along with KC and the Sunshine Band and Donna Summer (all of whom were there in person!). In fact, Fred Clam was having so much fun, he lost track of the time. When he finally remembered to check, he realized that he had just 20 minutes to make it back up to Heaven. In a panic, Fred Clam quickly thanked Sam Clam and said his farewells and rushed to the escalator. When Fred Clam passed through the Pearly Gates with mere seconds to spare, the angel was there waiting for him. Well, that was cutting it close, said the angel. Fred Clam responded, Yes, Im sorry. It was so nice to see Sam Clam that time just flew by. The angels expression grew stern. Where is your golden harp? Fred Clam felt a sinking sense. It seemed that he forgot it in his rush. Fred Clam looked at the angel, feeling more than a little ashamed, and said, I left my harp in Sam Clams disco.
