Fred was making many a score of telephone calls yesterday - though not quite four score and seven. Fred is not a two-computer guy. I was inputting data into the system as he got responses from people and then pulled up the next voter and telephone number for Fred to punch into his phone. The Coordinated Campaign of the Iowa Democratic Party has a data base within their Voter Activation Network (VAN). Lots of things can be done within the VAN… even making of Walking Maps with location of targeted voters. Fred has shifted from out knocking on doors and putting up yard signs to… calling voters who requested an early / absentee ballot. VAN uses statistics ( and magic spells? ) to decide which voters Fred should call; to see if they received their ballot, to ask for their consideration if they have not already returned it. Sometimes people have questions about what to do with a spoiled ballot or things like that. The VAN list for Freds House District 27 is updated often as people return their ballots or others requested ballots. Yesterdays list had nearly 500 people identified within District 27. I am continually amazed at how much of a happy camper Fred is when he is out knocking on doors or making phone calls. My hat goes off to you, Fred…
