Free to a good home: I am heartbroken to have to retire one of my best show horses. After sustaining a suspensory injury, Jagger is in need of a retirement/trail home. I would love to keep him as a pasture puff - but at 9 years old, with a huge work ethic, he needs a home that can continue to ride him. Jag is a 9 year old, black, OTTB gelding. We plucked him out of a not so great situation in 2013. Its taken an incredibly long time to put weight on him, fix his feet and get him back to health. He is NOT sound to jump or canter. After strenuous work his front legs begin to shake. He can be ridden on open trails. He has always been the stereotypical hot headed thoroughbred when doing jump courses. However, he is an awesome lead line pony and loves children. He loves the trails. I would never classify him as bombproof - but could eventually be with a seasoned trail rider. He just needs more miles out of the ring! He is a HARD KEEPER. Do not expect to be able to keep him on a handful of grain and bare feet! He eats a high fat grain, free choice hay and fat supplements. Currently, he wears 4 shoes, but could get away with 2 fronts depending on how much hes being used. A good home is a MUST. I will only let him go to someone within 2 hours of Rochester, NY with a written contract stating we can have at least 1-2 visits a year. First right of refusal. No slaughter. No jumping. NO RESALE. No showing. Vet and farrier references are a must before I will even let someone come look at him. A walk through of the barn he will be boarded at is also required. I am in no rush to kick him out of my barn.
