Friday, 16 May 2014 03:33:30 PM Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a man died in hospital following an ultralight plane crash near Ivanhoe this morning. About 7:55am, Friday 16 May 2013, emergency services were called to a rural property on the Balranald Road, approximately 50km south of Ivanhoe, following reports of a plane crash. It is believed a 35-year-old man was using an ultralight plane to muster stock when he crashed onto a rural property. He sustained serious head, leg and ankle injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Ivanhoe Health Service where he later died. The plane was completely destroyed in the crash and will be examined by investigators. Police from Barrier Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the crash and are being assisted by (Recreational Aviation Australia) NSW Police Air Wing. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
