The president and his visitor held a closed door meeting that lasted for about one hour. The emir was accompanied to the meeting by members of the Kano Emirate Council. Those present at the meeting included Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki, Attorney-General of the Federation Mohammed Bello Adoke and Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Aminu Wali. This was the second time Sanusi would be visiting Jonathan since he became the Emir of Kano. Sanusi, alongside other northern traditional rulers led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, had visited the Presidential Villa on July 23 for the breaking of Ramadan fast. Sources hinted that Jonathan and Sanusi met to see how they could resolve their differences. President Jonathan had on February 20 suspended Sanusi from office as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for alleged misconduct and financial recklessness. The erstwhile CBN governor had on February 13, during a public hearing by the Senate Committee on Finance, alleged that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was yet to account for $20 billion oil sales money. The allegation was said to have led to a strained relationship between the president and Sanusi. blog comments powered by DISQUS back to top Facebook Disqus blog comments powered by Disqus TOP STORIES IG under fire for withdrawing Tambuwal’s police guards Thousands flee Mubi, Badeh’s town sacked APC decries withdrawal of speakers security detail Jonathan, Sanusi in closed door meeting 2015: Jonathan picks PDP nomination forms for re-election Gun duel in Nigerian Army Chiefs town as Boko Haram starts preaching in Mubi UPDATED: Keshi bounces back as Eagles coach We withdrew Tambuwals security in compliance with constitution--Police UPDATED: Jonathan to pick PDP nomination form 2pm today B/Haram seizes Mubi, kills many BREAKING: FG withdraws Tambuwals security details 2015: Jonathan to pick PDP nomination form Thursday Update: Residents report gun fire near Mubi PDP Reps to await court on Tambuwal Why I want to unseat Jonathan – Kwankwaso PrevNextPage: SPORTS UPDATES Nigeria escape FIFA axe as Giwa withdraws case Chi Limited signs partnership with Manchester United We will annul NFF election if…—Ajunwa President Cup: Danagogo tasks stakeholders on talents hunt 2014 ACCW: First Bank targets third African title Keshi bounces back as Eagles coach CAF confirms Akwa Ibom Stadium for Eagles, Bafana cracker Photo News: Presidential Reception for the Super Falcons NFF crisis: Court to rule on jurisdiction today FIFA accused of fuelling NFF crisis Ebi overwhelmed by Abuja reception Ekeji: Nigerian sports need administrators with fresh ideas Wolves’ Etebo wins Glo Wonder Goal award Jonathan blames Eagles’ woes on internal crisis Bolaji wants Dangote to revive BCC Lions FC PrevNextPage: AGRICULTURE EDUCATION ENVIRONMENT HEALTH HOME FRONT IT WORLD LABOUR LAW PROPERTY ISLAMIC FORUM WOMEN ENTERPRENEURS InternationalLettersVideosPhotosAdvertisePollNews IndepthFor The RecordTop StoriesEmail Media Trust Limited (C) 2013
