Friday 7th March Possum Room Update: Today in the possum room the children danced underneath bubbles outside while Julia and Donna sang songs. Toby, Tully, Chloe and Bailey squealed excitedly as the bubbles were spread across the yard. The chalkboard was popular with Eli today. He spent a lot of time drawing across the board changing colours and sharing them with his friends. Henry and Toby had some quiet time before lunch with Donna the boys sat and constructed towers using the foam magnetic blocks. Gemma made herself at home in the home corner as she washed the plates and poured her friends tea. Bilby Room Update: Today the Bilbys practiced their hand-eye coordination with scissor cutting. Mackinley sat with our friends to help guide them into the excercise. We made lots of Kangaroos and insects in our picture creations. We made a mailbox for the Bilby room today so that all our friends can create and post letters to all the mummys and daddys. Platypus Room Update: We have had wonderful day in the platypus room today. Kiana,Harry and Anwen made a cage using the big blocks. They had left a space in the middle of the blocks for friends to sit in. Zara made play dough cupcakes using the little plastic containers to hold her cake in whilst she put the candles on top using paddle pop sticks. We also used our gross motor skills with Mel. We danced around our room to our Munch and move CD. One of our favourite stories at the moment is “Little bunny foo foo” We enjoy talking about being kind to our friends after we have listened to it. Kangaroo Room Update: Our interest in hospitals and learning what to do when we need to call for ambulance was enriched today when we had a visit from the ambulance service. The children had the opportunity to look at the equipment inside and compare some items with what was in our hospital. Peyton was our patient and showed everyone that we didn’t need to be scared when we had the oxygen mask on and when we checked our heart rate. The sirens and the flashing lights were a huge hit at the end of our visit. Thank you to Conner`s dad for taking time out and showing us the ambulance. We continued inside on reading a book about our heart and its job inside our bodies. Emu Room Update: Today we received a visit from the ambulance. Connor’s dad is a paramedic and he brought the ambulance in to show us inside the ambulance He also showed our friends how ambulances flash their lights and make loud siren noises. Giant bugs have been very popular outside at the moment. The children have enjoyed role playing as the different predators and prey. Inside today we had many activities set on the tables that the children enjoyed using and doing. These activities including, “zingo”, Puppet shows and “S themed colouring stencils. The most popular activity was the tessellation construction table where the children used smaller shapes to make bigger pictures.
