Friday FAQ: Why do you take X-rays of my neck when I am complaining of lower back pain? Answer: We take X-rays of both the lower back and the neck because we are trying to find the root cause to whatever symptom you are coming with. X-rays allow us to see specifically where in the spine the stress is stemming from. There has been countless times that we have taken an X-ray of someones lower back, whos complaining of lower back pain, and it is in perfect condition BUT when we take a look at the neck X-rays, they have no curve in the neck and a large forward head translation. What does this do to the lower back? I places a chronic strain on the lower back muscles because of the stress transferring down from the neck and shoulder region. So we take 2 series of X-rays (neck and low back) to see a big picture of the spine in order to help you be the best that you can!
