Friday Film Frolic “John Wick” Keanu Reeves (“Matrix”) - TopicsExpress

Friday Film Frolic “John Wick” Keanu Reeves (“Matrix”) is John Wick a former hit man who leaves the profession to get married and settle down and is forced out of retirement after his wife dies, and thieves break into his house and take his classic car and kill his dog: the one thing left that reminds John of his wife. It turns out that the thieves are related to a Russian Mafia boss who was once one of John’s “employers.” John goes after the thieves, one of whom is the mob boss’s son. Of course John is well equipped to fend off the mob minions, who are worse shots than Imperial Storm Troopers, and with a little help from a friend or two the body count exceeds the population of small country. The plot is predictable, but what makes this movie so much fun is watching Reeve [who is 50 years old—can you believe Ted (“Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” 1989) is 50?] perform most of his stunts as he takes out one bad guy (where do all these bad guys come from) after another as revenge for the loss of the wife’s memory represented by the dog. The film is almost non-stop action and well produced and Reeves’s acting is top notch. Rated R for extreme violence by the Wick killing machine. “John Wick” opens tonight at the Reichert’s Showhouse in Othello and joins “Dumb and Dumber To” not reviewed, which opened last night, and “Ouija” also not reviewed. “Book of Life” not reviewed, plays this weekend at the Sunset Theater in Connell.
