Friday Night Notes By Bobby Summers Offensive and Defensive - TopicsExpress

Friday Night Notes By Bobby Summers Offensive and Defensive players of the Week- Offensive Player- Senior Quarterback #10 Jackson Watts completed 50 percent of the 30 passes he threw for 220 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Watts also carried the football 16 times for 73 yards to lead all Bulldog rushers. Other than the interception, Watts was flawless hitting his targets. With repetitious work, with the new offense, look for that completion percentage to explode upward. This offense has the potential to score points quick and often and Watts is the man to get the job done. Defensive Player- #27 Jake Wolov is a junior free safety for the Bulldogs. Wolov was seen exploding on his side of the ball with several bone jarring tackles as well as a fumble recovery. Keep an eye on this Bulldog this year, he has the potential to make the big play and wherever you find the ball you will find Wolov. Sub-Varsity Plays Well but Injuries Mount The freshmen Bulldogs took a 22-0 lead into halftime, but lost both their Quarterback Nic Dalmas (broken collar bone) and Running back Brett Martinez (undisclosed injury) at the halftime. Martinez scored two touchdowns and had 173 yards rushing in the first half alone. Dalmas should be back in about six weeks and consider Martinez as day to day at this time. Forney’s freshmen took advantage of the losses and won the game 32-22. The Bulldog junior varsity traveled to Forney and took a 16-14 loss. Reports were that the Bulldogs were on the cusp of scoring two more times before being stopped by Forney. Random Thoughts Bulldog football fever has taken over the community. A local vendor sold out twice on big orders of “We Will Win” T-Shirts. How can you not become excited about the possibilities of this team? Those that attended the game last Friday night were treated to plenty of action both offensively and defensively. And when the Bulldog team started the final quarter by doing pushups in front of the stands the fans erupted in cheers and applause. Erase just a couple of minor mistakes from last week’s game and the Bulldogs take the victory. This is going to be a very exciting time to be a Royse City Bulldog. Royse City (0-1) vs. North Forney (0-1) Both teams suffered opening week losses. The Bulldogs lost to Forney 21-12 but recorded more yardage and more first downs in what could possibly be considered an upset by Forney. Keep an eye this week on the Bulldog offensive line. They were opening holes and holding off defenders giving the Bulldog backfield plenty of time to execute. Also look for the running game to expose more talent this week. North Forney lost to Frisco 45-28 last Friday night. If these stats are official, the Falcons were held to a total of only 57 yards of offense last week. Punting four times for an average of 14 yards per punt and losing two fumbles, the Frisco Raccoon defense did not budge. A player to watch for the Falcons is tailback Armani Watts. Watts has plenty of speed and is a Division I recruit so look for him to get his fair share of carries. If the Bulldogs stop Watts, they could also explode with several points on the Falcon defense. Frisco also scored three touchdowns on kickoff returns of 98, 82 and 75 yards, so the Bulldogs special teams could be a point of concentration and interest. Kickoff at Forney’s City Bank Stadium is 7:30. Forney’s stadium is a 30 minute approximate drive time from Royse City.
