Friday the 5th of December, 2014. Here we are back in the Bay Of - TopicsExpress

Friday the 5th of December, 2014. Here we are back in the Bay Of Plenty!. So, on Monday 1 of December, this week, the Neurology specialist tell us we will be moving back to Whakatane. Waikato Hospital is unable to take us into their Rehabilitation unit. :( Very confused patient and very upset. Tuesday the 2nd rolls around, and the Physios are in looking through the notes and they are not happy with our impending move, news to them. A phone call later and we have a little more information about why we will be rehabbing somewhere else, DHBs, and funding is what it comes to. Wednesday the 3rd, we will be moving today or Thursday, Charles by ambulance. Oh but wait, theres more. Now we can decide whether we go to Whakatane OR, Tauranga. More confusion and more upset. Tauranga it is, and Thursday the 4th at 1.30pm is the big move. Thursday, Hilda Ross is packed up, omg, the junk one can hoard is stupid, really, thats me. Charles room also needs packing up but his is pretty straight forward, tv, dvd player, dvds, creams and cosmetics, splints for hands and splints for feet, his calendar, a pair of swimming shorts, comb, a card from whaea Pauline Tangiora, Harleys photo, Alexis photos, Atea Stewart message board, Tawhao Stewarts carving, his tattoo mag and tooth brush..... Oh no, we forgot the tooth brush :( Kohu to Nurse from Tauranga Hospital:........ Sooooo, what does your ambulance look like?....... Bahahahahahahahahahaha........ Me and Ted, go to get the car, Aunty Mere and Aunty Colleen are seeing Charles off in the ambulance..... Very sad, me getting upset too.... Kei te pai. The trip to Tauranga was good. On the way down the Kaimai, a white holden station wagon with its lights on and tinted windows passed us, looked like a death car. When we pulled up to the ambulance bay at the back of the hospital, that car was also there.... Life and death, live and die.... While we were in ICU at Waikato, there were many stories of life and death, happiness, grief, one such was a transfer from Tauranga, a 12 year old boy, flown over in the helicopter from here.... some of you may remember it from national news.... a tragic story for his family and for those who knew him.... Sadd. Death comes to us all in the end. No amount of money, of love, of medicine, of organic living, of keeping safe, of giving, of prayer, of song, of happiness, of living to the best of our abilities can save us from the certainty of death. All we can do is our best, if we do that for ourselves and become who we are meant to become, then, we lay down good paths for those who come after us and when death catches up with us we will stare him in the eye and tell him we beat him, we lived. Time at Waikato Hospital has been time that we have needed Charles and me. Suffering is a bastard that pain loves. I have learned in this small window of time that life is indeed as they say, precious. Every being that has been conceived has beaten death. And, even in death, there is a life. The passing of life brings life.... .... We will treasure our journey at Waikato, the nursing staff, the doctors, the specialists, the health care assistants, the orderlies, the receptionists, the physios, of the Critical Care Ward and in particular ICU, and HDU, we will remember always... the care they gave not only to Charles but to every person that came to their ward, is their best, they bring their game to the field every moment they are in play, these people are heroes. He aroha nui ki te iwi nei e ngaakaunui ana ki a raatau mahi, e aroha nui ana ki te tangata... Oh, we may be transferring to Auckland :(
