LPANJ Thirteenth Annual Conference Friday, November 22, 2013 The College of New Jersey 2000 Pennington Road, Ewing, NJ 08628-0718 About the Conference: This year’s conference, “Rethinking Latino/a Mental Health in a Fast Changing Nation”, will focus on the interchange of ideas and information for empowering Latino/o serving mental health providers and researchers. The conference includes symposia, papers presentations, poster sessions and networking opportunities. Attendees: Attendees of the conference include mental health professionals, social workers, psychologists, researchers, administrators, students and various members of professional organizations. Abstracts accepted for the following broad themes: · Support and network opportunities for Latino/a serving mental health providers. · Latinos/as, technology and mental health · Social media in mental health (as a clinical tool and as professional tool) · Maximizing resources when working with Latino/a communities. · Best practices when working with Latinos/as · The business of aspect of mental health · Transitioning from clinician to academic Program Types Symposia: Symposia include two-three presentations around a common theme. The format consists of an introduction to the topic by the program chair, three 20-minute papers, conclusion by discussant, with time for question and answers. Each symposium will be 90 minutes in length. Paper Presentations. Paper presentations focus on a topic relevant to the themes of the conference. The format consists of 30-35 minute overview and 10-15 minutes for question and answer period, for a total of 45 minute presentation. Roundtable Discussions. Roundtables provide an opportunity for informal discussion and exchange of ideas between the audience and the presenters on a particular topic. Roundtable discussions will be 45 minutes in length. Poster Presentations. The poster session displays research findings, new ideas, and advances in the field illustrated on a poster board. The session will provide an opportunity for authors to interact with attendees and discuss the information in detail. Poster presentations are especially encouraged for students beginning to develop their research. The poster session is tentatively scheduled to be held during the registration hour and the lunch hour. Abstracts should be no more than 1000 words and submitted electronically by August 30, 2013. Please note that presenters are expected to register for the conference and pay the associated fees. Submit Proposal on lpanj.org
