Friends - often people ask me what zionism is. This article says it all. In my humble opinion (always open to debate) - one of the main definitions of zionism is the belief in an ethnically centred Jewish state - which comes at the expense of people already living in a place and people there who arent jews. Therefore zionism is a bad and oppressive thing. Zionism is not the same thing as being Jewish. Judaism should not be conflated with Zionism. Zionism is a specific historical project to colonise Palestine and has nothing inherent to do with Jewish culture - but is trying to claim Jewish culture for its own legitimacy. Never conflate Judaism with Zionism. If Jews want to live within the principles of the Torah then we should innately oppose Zionism as it contradicts the central belief of Tikkun Olam (heal the world). So please dont believe that Jews by default support the Zionist-led state of Israels policies of illegal warfare and racial domination.
