Friends- I so wish I had good news to report but unfortunately it appears that Rowans Wilms tumor may have returned. The MRI confirmed that there is an aggressive tissue growth in the area that used to be her right kidney. It was not seen in her last scans in April. It has entwined itself in the blood vessels in that area and is also attached to her vena cava. This is what we know. She will have surgery on Tuesday. They will go in through her nicely healed scar from the last round. They will take a slice of the tissue and will immediately have it analyzed to confirm what it is. That analysis will determine next steps. If it is Wilms then she will have another port inserted, this time on the other side of her torso to prepare for chemo therapy and possible radiation. The location of this tissue is in a very difficult spot and the surgeons are not sure if they will even be able to get it all. That is tbd. If its benign then the surgeons will decide course of action. Know this. Rowan is incredibly healthy. All other indicators for disease are negative. She is in no pain and is very strong. Her mom and I are not yet sharing all these details with her or her brothers because there are still some unknowns. All in due time. The battle continues. I guess that sculptor is not yet finished with his strongest stone. Warrior Princess standing strong.
