Friends, Arthur Mutambara is the only member of the ‘opposition’ to support the Constitutional Court’s decision to demand elections by 31st July. President Tsvangirai, Dumiso Dubengwa, Welshman Ncube and Simba Makoni all united this week despite their differences and publicly criticised the court’s decision. Mutambara however made a statement defending the ruling and argued that all parties must abide by the law. What has not been questioned is Mr Mutambara’s position as deputy Prime Minister. He is not a member of parliament and never stood for presidency in 2008 but instead backed Simba Makoni. In fact, he only stood for the seat of Zengeza East, where he was heavily defeated and received less than 10% of the vote. He therefore has absolutely no mandate to be deputy PM. Even before this, Mutambara’s role as president of the MDC-M, as it was known at the time, was particularly strange. He had no history in grassroots politics and was suddenly elevated to this position of power with no mandate from MDC supporters. He had never held any political position at executive, branch, district or provincial level and suddenly he was a president of the third biggest political party in the country. Furthermore, his own party expelled him in January 2011 after they discovered that he was a ZANU-PF mole. This revelation made perfect sense as to why Mugabe appointed him in the first place. Mutambara’s statement confirms that he is a ZANU puppet who has been completely isolated from both factions of the MDC and has no progressive allies left. He must have been upset by the fact that the leaders of the four main opposition parties met without him and this probably caused him to react. Arthur Mutambara is just one of many moles operating under false identities for ZANU-PF. We are now better prepared to defend ourselves and modern technology allows us to expose these individuals and organizations. Brave Baba Jukwa is a prime example of this. Stay strong and keep believing. Hatred and envy can only destroy us. Truth, justice, love and forgiveness will set us free.
