Friends, Dr friends and experts....this is my current situation and I could use a little guidance or advice on how to get out of this sleep slump Im in. Im not over committed to anything....I just have a lot of commitments that are not negotiable...like working out, working and taking care of the kids so I cant really cut anything out of my schedule or life. Not sure what to do at this point though: I’m trying to get back to early morning workouts (5:30 or 6:00am) so I can go back to freeing up my evenings to be with the kids but I’m really suffering in the sleep department right now. I go to bed between 9:30 and 10:00 almost every night. I tend to wake up around 3am every morning but can’t usually fall back asleep until about 5 or 6am. Here lately I’m finding myself either over-sleeping for my morning crossfit classes or just oversleeping period and not getting up in time to get to work before 9am. I can’t possibly fathom that 5 ½ hours of sleep is enough for me to workout, get kids out the door in the morning, work all day and then spend evenings running kids or cooking and trying to maintain the house. I mean, when I wake up at 3am I’m exhausted feeling but it just takes me forever to fall back asleep. I’m debating on whether or not to just start getting up if that’s what time I wake up but I’m afraid that I’ll crash and burn in the late hours of the work day or early evening hours. Melatonin and sleepy time teas do not seem to work.
