Friends, I am seeing a lot of comments from Telangana friends about the proposed comprehensive survey on 19th of August. I do not have anything to say about people who are negatively commenting on this survey, based on their political beliefs. But for those who have real questions, and need real answers, I want to assure them that the state govt is taking all measures to ensure no genuine person misses a chance to enroll. To give you a little background, this survey is being done to ensure that public money is reaching the real beneficiaries. Each year, the state and central governments are spending lakhs of crores on welfare programs, but the ultimate beneficiaries are receiving only a fraction of it, while a major portion of funds are being siphoned off at various levels. While Telangana state has about 85 Lakh house holds, the state has almost 91 Lakh White ration cards. And even now, there are lakhs of genuine beneficiaries, who dont have a ration card. This statistic clearly proves the number of fictitious beneficiaries in the state. In the past ten years, successive governments have shown statistics on paper about lakhs of houses built for poor people. But when the Telangana state government did a sample survey, it was found that most of these houses were NEVER really built. Hundreds and thousands of crores of public money was just siphoned off by some corrupt officials and politicians. Formation of Telangana state is a historic occasion. This is the time to make some radical changes in governance. This is the time to set the record straight once and for all. This is the time to bring in some real change. The Comprehensive Survey being planned on 19th is a first step towards that change. The government understands that there are several genuine concerns amongst Telanganites about this survey. Efforts are being made by the state government to make available a detailed FAQ via TV, Print and Online media. That said, please dont create hypothetical or contrived questions and expect answers for them.
