Friends, Im starting a weekly email newsletter for good sportswriting called Haute Sports Takes. Ill be sending it out only once a week, on Sundays, and it will contain ~10-15 of the best articles from the week with a few sentences of editorializing, one cool song and one cool other thing I read. The goal is to have it be interesting both to people who are sports obsessives and folks who may only be interested in sports as a cultural phenomenon and dont actually give a shit if the Yankees win or lose a game in July. I posit that your average sportswriter is worse than your average other kind of writer, so there is a ton of garbage to sift through, but theres also a lot of fabulous or even transcendent writing out there that gets buried. Im sending out the first issue on Sunday and itll cover the last few weeks. Every issue afterwards will be the past ~7 days.
