Friends, KRICKETS ARK is rolling forward! We are looking for *seed money* to start this project growing. We need to raise the initial funds to get things going & are using GOFUNDME to do it! I have posted the link to my page, PLEASE SHARE IT! I will be setting up a PayPal account this week as well so if you wish to donate directly to us, that will be possible. These donations are NOT tax deductible. We are still working on filing non-profit, but hope to have that change made soon. If each person that views our fundraiser page donated $5, & shared the page we would have the money raised in no time. PLEASE help this Christmas miracle happen! I have also copied our organizations outline so you can have an idea what the Ark is all about. Here is our link to the fundraiser page: gofundme/iq1fjo KRICKET’S ARK Kricket’s Ark started as a dream. My dream. I have been working with animals for 30 years in a wide range of experiences. I wanted a sanctuary for animals, domestic pets that needed rehabilitation so they could be adopted, discarded exotic animals bought as “pets” that could not be returned & released to their native habitats because of being captive bred or importation, & local wildlife that for reasons of illness, injury or other similar problems needed a life long home. I approached 2 of my life-long friends with my ideas & they eagerly jumped on board. We decided we wanted to do more. In brain storming we realized that this could be an ideal setting for others needing *sanctuary*. It was decided that parolees transitioning back into society could benefit from this setting. It is widely known that animals can provide therapeutic benefits to those in stressful situations. Why not create a residential setting for a handful of these people, allow them to work on the property, and with the animals? This would give them a more positive environment than a half-way house, reduce the chance of them resorting to old habits out of frustration or just exposure to the situations that got them started in the wrong direction, we would provide employment during their supervised parole, and assist them in finding continued employment when they leave our program. I contacted numerous people in the incarceration system and they were all very eager to participate in such an endeavor. As excited as we were, we felt there was more to do. At that point we contacted a local college to see if their zoology program would be interested in having an organization such as ours at their disposal. After a few discussions they too were eager to take part. They also suggested other departments at the college that might be interested in joining our efforts that would be mutually beneficial (web page development, signage, creating promotional materials & even students/faculty that would want to help build habitats)! Since we are not allowing violent offenders in our parolee program (for the safety of the animals) there was no problem from the college if the students were on the property. We have talked to local businesses that are willing to donate time or materials, some at cost, some outright. In making inquiries there are those willing to help us by donating supplies needed for caring for the animals or parolees. There is great support for this project once it gets going. As we have added to our team we now have 2 military veterans (one who is disabled from his service), and we have a disabled former law enforcement officer involved in our program(s). This is going to be a non-profit company with outreaching programs to help lift up others… 4 legged or 2 legged. We have found this to be a viable & sustainable organization, but it has to get off the ground. There are license fees, filing fees, promotional materials, and some travel costs we need to fund to get this going. Northern Idaho has the perfect setting for our sanctuary, there is certainly a need for such a program, and the overall costs of property, living, & business are reasonable. Unfortunately until we have our filings done, we can not do tax deductions of donations. If you have further questions or would like more information please feel free to contact us.
