What: Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) Board Meeting When: Wednesday, December 4, Meet Up at 9:00 a.m., Rally at 9:15 a.m., Board Meeting at 9:45 a.m. Where: BAAQMD Headquarters, 939 Ellis St., San Francisco Why: We demand District staff protect our Bay Area air and community and worker safety, not Big Oil’s profits Who: Communities for A Better Environment, 350 Bay Area/Chevron Watch, Sunflower Alliance, Richmond Environmental Justice Coalition, Refinery Action Collaborative, Richmond Progressive Alliance, Asian Pacific Environmental Network, Bay Localize, Local Clean Energy Alliance, Sierra Club, Forest Ethics, representatives from Oil Project towns of Benicia, Pittsburg, Rodeo, Richmond and Martinez, and many others! This is a very important BAAQMD Board meeting. Board members will have an opportunity to hear from us, the people of the Bay Area, about our concern about the lack of transparency in Big Oil’s intention of flooding Bay Area refineries with Dirtier Crude Oil from Alberta, Canada, North Dakota fracked Bakken and California fracked crude oil. The BAAQMD staff can ensure transparency and accountability if it properly handles its permitting process for the five proposed refinery expansion projects. So far staff seems more concerned about protecting Big Oil rather than us!!! They need to hear from us - Loud and Clear! Please bring Signs!!! A delegation from Richmond will gather at Richmond BART at 8:00 a.m. to go over to San Francisco to the Civic Center BART Station and then walk over to the BAAQMD Building for the Rally at 9:15 a.m. Organize your own delegations and join us at 9:00 a.m. at BAAQMD.
