Friends and Neighbors, We wanted to bring to your attention the agenda item to be discussed at the Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting, Tuesday August 19, 2014 during the afternoon session, which begins at 2:00 PM. The below paragraph is taken directly from the Board’s agenda: Receive presentation and discuss proposed Water Conservation Ordinance; and direct staff to bring back to your Board on September 16, 2014 first reading of proposed Department initiated Water Conservation Ordinance or first reading of Ordinance restricting all outdoor watering to 2 days per week pursuant to recently enacted State emergency regulations What could this mean to you? Elaine spoke with Supervisor Poochigian’s assistant today asking exactly what the Board members could propose that may be included in this ordinance, such as, restrict well drilling on private property, installing water meters on wells, ect. She was told anything could be brought forward for a motion by any member of the Board. On the KMJ Chris Daniels Tuesday program a topic discussed was that Supervisor Henry Perea has asked the Public Utilities Commission to pass a regulation without public input, to mandate meters on all wells in the County, including Ag wells. He is also asking that Fresno County farmers be stopped from new and replacement tree planting. We realize this is a busy time with harvest beginning, but wanted to let you know about this important upcoming issue. We hope there will be many farmers and private property owners at the Board of Supervisors meeting to hear what may be proposed, in case we need to comment during the public comment session. Please share this information with your neighbors. Call if you have any questions. Charlie and Elaine Long 559-442-4671 Randell and Anne Widner 559-325-9999
