Friends and extended family. Today was moms appointment with her - TopicsExpress

Friends and extended family. Today was moms appointment with her oncologist to look at starting the next dose of chemo. We discussed some of her symptoms and that cognitively she has regressed some. The doctor was concerned about swelling and thought it would be good to put her back on the steroid; however she first wanted to do an MRI. Now, this group has not seen any of the previous MRIs only the notes and interpretations of them, but still nothing really to compare them to. The doc called us back up and let us know that they are seeing a growth, even though she has nothing to compare it to she is very concerned. They already called the neurosurgeon in Little Rock and they want to see her first thing Monday. She will be a work in so it could take all day; when she had an appointment we waited 3 hours past that. Bottom line is, this type of chemo did not work. What was working was the radiation treatments, so regardless of if she has surgery again or not she will have a different form of chemo. We ask for many prayers for her and the family. We dont understand everything right now, but do know that God has a plan. We know a little bit more of what to expect this time, but still this next surgery depending on what the surgeon chooses to do could with the tumor and how deep it is could leave her partially paralyzed. Because I still believe we should be very specific in our prayers, here is what you can pray for: safe travels, the surgeon and his team, her health and healing, our family as we try to seek understanding and guidance in her care, Gods will, our spirits as this is beginning to wear us down and anything else you feel led to pray for us about. We are committed to beating this, and we serve a Mighty God that can. I will just apologize now and say that I will not be able to answer everyones texts or messages in the coming days, but know they are read and appreciated. Myself or one of our family members will post updates as we get them. Another item that is not to be forgotten is that my uncle (by marriage) will be in the same hospital for heart surgery this week as well, so it is very likely we could have two in the hospital at the same time. Please pray for him and their immediate families as well.
