Friends, be bery careful before posting things from the early church fathers, it is said by many that either Rome began to inspire them and goes as far as to say the Roman Catholic church changed some of their letters later on to fit the Roman church....now I have studied some of the books and they are brilliant. Polycarp by far is the most biblical however and quotes nothing but the Word. You see later on with the issues of authority and communion Rome creep in. Paul warned about this by saying Some from your very own will rise up speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after themselves. It is important we go by the Word rather than go by who was associated with who? Nicholas was one of the seven seperated by the apostles to the ministry of helps who was Full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom. History later records that he was responsible fpr starting the sect of the Nicolatans Whom God hated there doctrine and deeds. Outside of that it is our responsiblity to only preach thr Word and nothing more and nothing less. Polycarp was a good example of this.
