Friends, especially UCS friends, and teacher friends in general...I have a dilemma and need HELP!!!, Elizabeth is going into 9th grade at Shelby Jr. High. I got a call from her counselor this afternoon, and there is a hole in her schedule. As of right now she is scheduled to take: AP Algebra II, Biology, Honors English, AP World History, and she would like for her electives to be Spanish II, and Drama, as she has been selected by the drama teacher to be part of the Wildccat TV production. The counselor says something has to go because they are not able to accomodate her. She recommended the AP World History (for college credit) as this is a heavy all advanced academic load. I know my kid. She wont drop a core academic. The counselor also said perhaps take her Honors English and just do regular English. Again, super tough call. Elizabeth took the ACT for practice last year, and got a 30 on the English part. Seems wrong to make that selection. The other option is to not do Spanish II next year, and do it in 10th and 11th. Perhaps instead taking her gym/health credit requirement in its place. Her focus is COLLEGE. She is driven, motivated, and an overachiever. (NOTHING like her mother) Which option should she choose to still give her the best chance at her academic goals? Would all of those advance core classes be too much? I dont want to clip her wings, but I dont want her overwhelmed either. HELP, please!!
