Friends & family, I am reaching out to you for your help and support on a life changing situation that has affected my family. A few months ago my father was diagnosed with stage four of liver AngioSarcoma cancer, a rare liver malignancy. As you can imagine, this has been a very hard time for my family. My sisters and I started doing a lot of research about this cancer because we had never heard of it before. We found out AngioSarcoma is one of the rarest types of cancers out there. Only 300 people in the world are diagnosed with it yearly, which is why there is minimal research done about it. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to find a Facebook page dedicated solely to AngioSarcoma patients and their families. We learned more about AS on this page than we did elsewhere. The information and survival stories we came across on this page gave us hope and led my father to fly out to Texas to speak with a good Oncologist. This page also led us to join Cycle for Survival- “the high-energy indoor team cycling event that benefits rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.” This is where you come in. We’ve created a team for my father titled “AngioSarcoma Awareness” and would like to raise as much money as we can to raise awareness and have more research done about his diagnosis. This deadly cancer affects many families but I believe we can do something about it. I want to make sure there is enough research done about AngioSarcoma; no one should have to be faced with an Oncologist who doesn’t have much to say about what their cancer is like or how it can be treated.
