Friends, we have a request for advice from a fan. Can you help? When caring for a parent with some dementia, how and when does one set a limit when the parent is negative and bitter. I love my mom and Im here caring for her for the long haul. I want to be kind and compassionate, forgiving and understanding...but shes so unpleasant to be around some days. Do I set a limit? Divert her attention? Tell her how I love her but its hard to be with her when shes negative about everything? Its a question of: can she help it? and: Is she excused because shes elderly, sick, in pain, looking at her mortality, afraid and basically not pleased with her life at present? She has some dementia but she is mostly here. Suggestions and comments from your own experience?
