From Anonymous reposted by Harry Hi I have been reading your posts for a few weeks now and I think Ive finally built up the courage to ask the big question..... id like some advice as to whether your followers can relate to my suspicions about my boy 6 yrs old having aspergers, I would at the moment prefer to stay anonymous as Im not sure whether Im right or wrong in my belief of him being an aspie My little boy is 6 years old and to be honest has always seemed different (mostly in good ways but sometimes he can be very hard work) Ive always thought there might be a reason why he is this way and for a while Ive wondered if he could be an aspie. Lately things have gotten worse he can get very upset over minor things and when we try to calm him down he tells us he just cant stop crying and I know myself he tries but just cant, he is a very fussy eater and what he eats is determined by the look of it, he picks things (eg toys) and he becomes fixated on this one thing at the moment its lego but hes gotten to the stage where over xmas he was given toys that werent lego and he went into meltdown over it, its very hard because most people think he is just being ungrateful where as I believe he cant help it. Over the last few months he cant seem to understand when hes talking to someone the wrong way (ie tone of voice) but once he is told that he isnt speaking to someone in a nice way he looks sorry and talks to them properly, hes begun saying hurtful things to me and his dad but doesnt seem to understand why we find them hurtful, he doesnt like loud noises, he tends to cover his ears and lately he has developed problems sleeping at night he just keeps telling us he has a bad feeling but wont tell us what because he thinks well tell him hes being silly. He has always been advanced for his age speech wise and is doing great educationally in most aspects of school life. These are just a few of the things hes doing I think I would be here for hrs if I listed out everything but I would really appreciate any toughts fellow posters may have, I do have a younger cousin who is an aspie and my boy and him get on great and seem to understand eachother but im at my wits end as to whether Im just a worrier or whether I need to take the step and get him assessed I dont want to put him through everything if Im wrong so would really appreciate your help xxx
