From April 24th – May 03rd, 2014 flash floods across 10 provinces in Afghanistan’s north and west affected some 71,000 people. The Afghan government is coordinating the disaster response with the support of the United Nations and international agencies. USAID’s Office of Food for Peace (USAID/FFP) is a key partner to the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP), which delivered 5,687 food kits to flood-affected families and 700 food kits to landslide-affected families.
