From: Diomedes Lim ; To: RCBC Alumni ; Subject: [RCBCAlumni] BACK TO NORMAL? Sent: Thu, Nov 14, 2013 3:28:19 PM I have a friend in Tacloban who said the place could be a ghost town. A lot of people in various social levels are getting out of the place. Its scary. The relief goods will be good on a day-to-day situation. We might think that a truck load of food and water when received by the victims will relieve them and bring them back to normal. They will need them day after day. . . until they are back to normal? Until they are self-sufficient, they will need the relief goods. Normalization will need infrastructure, investments, etc. How long is temporary relief? - perhaps months or years! The investors and employees were wiped out. Hopefully the farmers can resume farming soon. Even crops take time to be harvested. In the meantime, the farmer needs food, water, clothing, shelter, etc. We should put in our minds that relief goods which we help generate through group efforts will be needed for quite a long time. . . even when the story of the strongest typhoon will die down. This is a BIG job. Even the aircraft carrier is a temporary relief, but it could quicken things up. We should not tire doing relief efforts for quite a long time. Permanent relief can be achieved with God. Let us not tire praying for the victims and those who have taken the joy of helping the typhoon-ravaged brethren. God will help us find answers to our concerns. God bless us all. Diom
