From Drew: Im dealing with a person issue in regards to vaccines and I am pretty stumped as to what to say or how to react. My family has recently looked heavily into vaccinations through my most recent pregnancy and openly discussed with our friends and family that we completely are against them and will not be vaccinating our children any longer. Not only that, but we feel strongly about the least medical intervention as possible- the better. That being said, one of our good friends has Cystic Fibrosis. She messaged me today saying that she had a doctors appointment and the doctor told her that she should not be around anyone who isnt up to date on their vaccines and that everyone she sees once or more a month MUST have their flu shot to protect her lungs as much as possible given the stage of CF she is in. We have openly discussed with her that we do not vaccinate and the reasons why. Given that she knows this, I am assuming she wants to pressure us in to getting vaccinated? We arent flexible on our decision. And unfortunately we just may have to distance ourselves from her. However, I want to know what I could say to her to allow her to understand that although she is doing the best she knows how to- to protect her health, I am also doing my best in protecting my family and their health...
