From Harry Warren: Let us never lose sight of Dr. Martin Luther King’s vision. When Harry Warren & Al Dubin wrote, “Remember My Forgotten Man” for Gold Diggers of 1933, they were most certainly singing to those who were disenfranchised by society after serving in the service and not being given those opportunities for which they so passionately fought for. If you think about it, Warren & Dubin could also have easily been writing about the Civil Rights Movement decades later. In fact, Etta Moten, the singer who appears uncredited in the film singing the number, later became a journalist and radio interviewer. She is known for reporting on the birth of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950’s, of which King was the leader of. We salute you, Dr. King! ow.ly/sLXmB
