From JP Emergency Management and the National Weather Service : Good Afternoon Emergency Managers, There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms late tonight through Monday evening. Another Spring storm is expected to push through the region Monday. Two or possibly three rounds of storms are expected to affect Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. The first round will occur late tonight after midnight through Monday morning and affect areas north and west of Lake Pontchartrain including southwest Mississippi. Supercell storms are possible. The main threat from these storms will be wind damage, hail and a tornado or two. Additional rounds of thunderstorms will be associated with the surface cold front. These storms will likely be in or near a squall line Monday afternoon through Monday evening. The main threats will be thunderstorm wind damage, hail, heavy rainfall and lastly a tornado or two. It is possible that lines of thunderstorms could temporarily stall and produce repeat heavy rainfall in some locations. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with some locally higher amounts possible. The flash flood threat should remain relatively low or localized, so a Flash Flood Watch is not anticipated at this time.
