From Jarius Bondoc of Philippine Star: The exposés are so serious — billion-peso kickback from a car-park construction during Binay’s Makati mayoralty, a 350-hectare country estate — so merit serious answering. Binay can’t forever cry politicking by his bashers. The latter are on a roll, controlling the inquiry in a Senate where the Opposition has been cowed by plunder raps against three leaders. Binay must refute the revelations either at the Senate or an equally public forum. His silence, broken only by spokesmen’s denials, will be construed as guilt. In time the accusers will need to file charges. Binay should have credible counter-evidence. For by then the 2016 presidential campaign would have set in, and voters will be evaluating his character.
