From Jessica Johnston Leopold Hi all, as a local I wanted to share a terrible experience my family and I had at a local shop named Tapletop on Venice Ave. Both my husband and myself are locals who work on the island. I had my sister and fiance in town visiting. We spent one afternoon eating lunch at Bushido, which was wonderful. Afterwards as we were strolling Venice ave, a bowl in the window of Tabletop caught my sisters eye. We walked into the shop to check it out. The sales clerk who was working (also may have been a manger or shop owner for that matter as I am not sure) walked over as we were looking. She proceeded to grab the bowl out of my sisters hands and stated "ok this goes back in my window now". I turned and stared because I could not believe what just happened. I let her know how incredibly rude and assuming she was, informed her that she lost a sale and left the store. Very upsetting. There are way too many shops in Venice that treat their patrons respectfully and love having local business. With that in mind, I wanted to share our experience so others could choose wisely who they support.
