From Jim Harbison: Attached are two artist’s illustrations of the Vietnam War Memorial being built here in the Las Cruces Veterans Park on Roadrunner Parkway. The center section you see in daylight version and the panels on either side of it will be black granite. In the center section will be etched photos of each of the 400 KIA’s from New Mexico. The night illustration better displays how the photographs will be arranged in the center section. The rock walls in the illustration are expected to be completed by the end of this month and Werthen Memorial in Albuquerque has begun the laser etchings the photos on the granite panels. They will be installed in mid-February and March. If you are interested in making a donation or sponsor a part of the memorial please contact Tom Whatley at (575) 649-2256.
