Manufacturing unions led by the Teamsters have stepped up in support of overseas Service Sector workers threatened by TISA. The AFL-CIO is standing in solidarity with workers in Uruguay following a suit filed by a private corporation citing investor-to-state dispute terms in Uruguays bilateral treaty with Switzerland. We know that corporate-driven free trade agreements seek to irreversibly remove democratic control over laws protecting fair pay, worker health and safety, consumer rights, financial regulation, food standards, labeling, GMOs, internet freedom, and the environment.
