From Lori Jablonski The Bee story on the SCUSD CORE Waiver is finally up. Enough here to warrant several strings of comments. For today though, I think it is important to focus on the very serious implications of school board president Patrick Kennedy comments. He claims the board members gave their assent to this highly controversial proposal, though they never voted nor had an agendized public discussion/debate. If true, this statement raises all sorts of ethical and possibly very serious legal issues. How did they give their assent? Was there a closed session vote? Serial one-on-one meetings between the Sup and board members seeking each members assent? Was the out-of-the-public-eye assent unanimous? Did any member not give his/her assent? Was assent through wink, wink, nod, nod. These are questions that need to be followed up and will be. In the meantime, for those who care, please email board members, beginning with board president Patrick Kennedy and request specific info as to how assent by board members was granted.
