From Matt the Cat: Happy 83rd Birthday to the legendary guitarist SCOTTY MOORE. He was born on December 27, 1931 near Gadsden, TN. In 1954, Sun Records owner Sam Phillips put MOORE and bassist Bill Black together with a young Elvis Presley to see if they could work up a sound together. Their first session, held on July 5th didnt start off too promising, until right near the end when Elvis started jamming on the old blues tune, Thats All Right. SCOTTY and Bill fell right in behind him and history was made. MOOREs guitar licks are legendary and oft-copied. He remained with Elvis until the early 60s and then reunited with him for the 68 Comeback Special.
