From October 19 to 23, 2014, the International Legal Foundation–West Bank hosted the first of five trainings in coordination with the Palestinian Bar Association (PBA). This first training was held in Ramallah, and was attended by 11 local members of the PBA. The training was modeled on the successful Nepal Bar Association trainings which the ILF developed and implemented over the last two years. As such, the West Bank trainings provide a great example of how the ILF is developing its institutional knowledge, and underscore the adaptability of performance standards and guidelines on which these trainings are based. The ILF–West Bank Legal Projects Coordinator Nour Bustami; Legal Coordinator Nael Ghannam; Regional Coordinator- North Ghadanfar Kamanji; the International fellow Premal Dharia; and the Clinical Fellow Kiyomi Bolick covered several topics during the training, such as the role of defense counsel in providing criminal legal aid, the right to a speedy trial, and the right to a fair trial. In addition, the PBA lawyer Mutasim Awawdih gave two lectures, one on attorney/client privilege and one on the right to remain silent. Throughout the training, participants were asked to complete exercises to demonstrate the skills learning. Participants were engaged and interested by the trainings, which were described as organized, thorough, and engaging. Some participants stated that they had never attended a better training. On Thursday, Oct.23, the training concluded by a speech from His Excellency Mr. Husin Shabanih, President of the Palestinian Bar Association (PBA). All participants received a certificate of completion. Lawyers Shadi Alnimri, Sultan Zakarnih, Alaa Jafal, Jihad Jabir, Muhamad Rabia, Ahmad Zahaykah, Huthayfah Musa, Amani Bayatnih, Sabah Salamih, Tufaha Hanayshih, and Muhamad Abujalalah participated in the training. This training program will have a tremendous impact on the quality of representation provided to the criminally accused in the West Bank, and will further increase the reputation of ILF-West Bank’s lawyers as the best trained, prepared and experienced criminal defense lawyers in the West Bank. يوم الأحد 19/10/2014، استضافت المؤسسة القانونية –الدولية-الضفة الغربية الأول من خمس تدريبات بالتنسيق مع نقابة المحامين الفلسطينيين. كان هذا التدريب في رام الله لمدة خمسة أيام وحضرها 11 عضو محلي من نقابة المحامين الفلسطينية. من المؤسسة القانونية الدولية-الضفة الغربية منسقة المشاريع القانونية ؛ نور بسطامي و المنسق القانوني، نائل غنام و المنسق لمنطقة- الشمال؛ غدنفر كمنجي والزميلة الدولية، بريمال دهاريا ، و زميلة العيادات؛ كيومي بوليك فقد قاموا بتغطية العديد من الموضوعات أثناء التدريب منها دور محامي الدفاع في تقديم المساعدات القانونية في القضايا الجنائية و الحق في الحصول على محاكمة سريعة ومحاكمة عادلة. وبالإضافة، قدم المحامي معتصم عواوده ، وهو محامي تم اختياره من قبل نقابة المحامين الفلسطينية لإعطاء محاضرتين الأولى حول سرية العلاقة بين المحامي / الموكل ، والآخر هو الحق في التزام الصمت. هذا و طوال التدريب قد تم الطلب من المشاركون استكمال حقائق لإظهار مهارات تعلمهم . يوم الخميس ،23/10/2014 ، تم اختتام التدريب بكلمة من سعادة السيد حسين شبانة ، رئيس نقابة المحامين الفلسطينية (PBA) . و من ثم قام سعادة السيد حسين شبانة ، رئيس نقابة المحامين الفلسطينية (PBA) ،و المحامي أحمد النتشة ، عضو مجلس PBA، و نائل غنام ، المنسق القانوني ل ILF-الضفة الغربية و بريمال دهاريا ، المحامية الدولية للILF، و كيومي بوليك ، محامية العيادات القانونية بإعطاء الشهادات ل 11 مشارك من ال PBA و هم المحامي شادي النمري و المحامي سلطان زكارنه والمحامي علاء جفال والمحامي جهاد جابر والمحامي محمد ربيع والمحامي أحمد زحايكة والمحامي حذيفة موسى والمحامية أماني بياتنة والمحامية صباح سلامة والمحامية تفاحة حنايشة والمحامي محمد أبوجلاله .
