From Salman Javed Hakeemullah Mehsud, The notorious TTP leader and Enemy # 1 has been killed in a #Drone Strike. (Confirmed by all sources) TTP has announced the name of their new Emir. Khan Syed aka Khalid Mehsud. A few points: - Hakeemullah was lured by Haqqanis for the peace talks with #Pakistan . Although he was never serious about the talks, but given the options and his health condition, (as he was suffering from Diabetes), he had to take a chance of responding to the call given to him by Pakistani authorities time and again. - But the drone struck him, leaving him and his four guards dead. His second in command Khalid Mehsud has taken the charge. Apparently, US has successfully played the game well, disposed off the asset, pissed off Haqqanis, the supposedly allies of Afghan Talibans and working as a coordinator group b/w them and Pakistani authorities. - Is it a deliberate effort by #US to sabotage the peace talks? Or is it just another step forward of cornering the #TTP , disposing them off, for the real peace talks b/w #US and #Afghan Talibans? Khalid Mehsud had some rifts with his Emir. Why is he been appointed as the new leader? It is also a matter to be looked into. - The two narratives, sabotage of peace talks and disposing of the assets, is it a classic example of killing two birds with one stone? - People might be thinking, that game has slipped off from #Pakistans hands. Its a strategic issue, nothing is finalized until the last moment of game. What are the ramifications and what are the benefits? In a few days, the dust will be settled down and perhaps a common narrative will come up. - Just to remind here, Anti drone campaign, a powerful statement by #PTI of blocking #NATO supply, peace talks and then sabotage of peace talks can all be interconnected. Pakistan mightve been playing well here. Just my point of view. - Sprinter groups, that can be a concern. - Never before in such a hurry a commanders death has been confirmed and a new commander is appointed. Khalid was ready? A lot more to say. But lifting up Lateef Mehsud, Clearing off US skin by publishing a report on connection of TTP with Afghans and then disposing off Hakeem. Well the game is slipped off from whose hands? A question needs to be asked from Strategists!
